New Green Online Application

When The Center for Neighborhood Technology (CNT) approached Method Engine, they sought to create a new online application to help residential homeowners review their actual energy usage profile in real time. The tool would be unlike others in that it would utilize actual energy usage data from local utilities to provide homeowners with recommendations to decrease energy consumption and save money. The tool would also serve as an application for lead generation, driving traffic to selected contractors who would subsequently provide energy saving audits and other related services to homeowners.

Method Engine worked with CNT to refine the business objectives of the new initiative and align them with the needs and interests of end-users. In addition, Method Engine worked with the CNT team to determine the design, technical, and content requirements to develop a complete application that would best meet the needs and interests of homeowners.

The pilot program site launched in Spring, 2011 and has received positive response from residential homeowners, major utilities, and contractors alike. Upon completion of the pilot, MyHomeEQ.com is anticipated to launch later this year in several major urban markets throughout the US and Canada. As one of the only online tools of its kind, MyHomeEQ provides actual energy usage data, offers clear solutions to homeowners to reduce energy usage, and saves money and serves as a lead generation tool for contractors.
